The device whirred and the window opened.
“Time travel exists!” Metar screamed.
He put his hand through the enlarged opening and into the future, 300 years away. He brought his hand back, still whole. So inserted his head.
A buzzing sounded in his ears. Then rushing water. In another second he saw the other side.
A group of people stared back at him and nodded. They then spoke to each other and noted something in various pads.
“Come through, we’ve been expecting you,” one of the men in the room said.
Metar held the man’s gaze, but then withdrew his head. He turned to the camera behind him currently recording this momentous event in his time. He switched it off, then deleted all record.
He also burned his diary he had been using to make notes.
He put his head back through the window. The buzzing then the water sounded in his ears. The future opened up to him once again. This time the room was empty.
